Friday Favourites Link-Up — An Introduction

I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while, and I’ve finally stopped overthinking it and just decided to do it.

Introducing: Friday Favourites.

Every Friday (or most Fridays — let’s be realistic about who we’re dealing with here) I’ll share a small collection of things I’ve loved that week. Books I’ve been reading. Songs that have been stuck in my head. Recipes that actually worked. Posts from around the internet that made me think. Small moments from our week that I want to remember.

And then I’ll open it up as a link-up, so you can share your own favourites from the week too.

Why favourites?

Because I think paying attention to what delights us is an act of gratitude. Because sharing good things multiplies them. Because Friday afternoons in Australia deserve something gentle and warm before the weekend kicks in.

Also because I read an enormous amount of stuff on the internet and I might as well make it useful for someone.

This week’s favourites

  • Reading: I’ve been working through The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom for what must be the fourth time, and it still gets me every single time — if you’re looking for your next read, I’ve put together a list of comfort reads worth picking up for mums that might give you some ideas
  • Making: A lemon and almond cake from a recipe in the Donna Hay magazine — it worked perfectly and the children ate it without complaint, which in this house is the highest praise
  • Listening: There’s a worship album by Hillsong I’ve had on repeat that I keep meaning to tell you about — it’s perfect for early mornings
  • From around the internet: Some lovely posts in the One Word community this week — I’ll link a few in the link-up below. If you’ve never chosen a word for your year, here’s how to choose a word of the year with over 100 ideas to get you started
  • Moment of the week: My youngest, who is at that age where everything is a question, asked me why leaves fall from trees. We spent twenty minutes looking it up together and I learned something I didn’t know at all. These are the good bits — the kind of simple moments that become the family traditions kids will remember.
